The three violets
The ‘Three Violets’ have been part of our Marist tradition from the earliest days and comes from Saint Marcellin Champagnat. His proposal was that the type of Christian discipleship he wanted Marists to nurture would be underpinned by three basic spiritual attitudes: those of “humility”, “simplicity”, and “modesty”. These are the heart of what it means to be a Marist.
characteristics of marist spirituality
Marist spirituality is underpinned by the five Marist characteristics that are common to all Marist ministries: Simplicity, Love of Work, Presence, Family Spirit and In the Way of Mary.
The MAGNIFICAT
Br Michael Green explores the Mary’s Magnificat (Luke 1:46-55 ) through the use of music, scripture and contextual analysis. He explains how Mary provides an example of how to magnify God through our lives and that our soul doesn’t enlarge God, rather, Marists are called to bring God into greater clarity to those around us.
